YMCA of Frederick County expanding services and programs into the Thurmont area.

Y leaders volunteer at community gardenThe YMCA of Frederick County continues to expand programming into the Thurmont area beginning this Spring. Talks began between the YMCA and the Thurmont community in November of 2019, where residents voiced concerns over the drug crisis and the lack of activities for teenagers and youth. Following a survey of residents’ interests, services were set to launch in early 2020 but were postponed due to COVID. To begin, the Y is focusing on two areas, Arts and Humanities and Teen Programming, but hopes to expand to Health & Wellness offerings later in Fall 2021.

YMCA programs empower young people, improve health and well-being, as well as provide support and inspire action in our communities today and every day. Explore our offerings below to discover new ways to connect to your purpose, potential, and each other

Teen Programming

The YMCA connects youth to the programs and resources they need to lead, learn, grow and thrive!

Thurmont Y Leaders Club
Ages 12-17
The program runs the entire school year and focuses on leadership development and service to the community. This year’s program was virtual with optional in-person volunteer opportunities but we plan to begin in person again in the Fall of 2021.

At the Y, we welcome all children and their families, because our communities are stronger when everyone can take part in equitable programs where they can learn, grow and thrive. The YMCA Annual Campaign raises money to ensure financial support for those who need it most.
