


Our American Red Cross–aligned courses train teens and adults in lifesaving skills, CPR, and aquatic safety—setting them up for job readiness and leadership.

Swim lessons are open to members and non-members. YMCA members receive discounted program rates.

The YMCA of Frederick County offers a comprehensive swim program for all ages and skill levels — from infants just getting comfortable in the water to adults looking to refine technique or earn certifications. Every program emphasizes safety, confidence, and lifelong fitness.



Our comprehensive aquatics offerings emphasize water safety, skill development, fitness, and fun. Programs are available for beginners through advanced swimmers.
Introduce infants and toddlers to the water in a safe, fun environment with parent participation. Focuses on comfort, water acclimation, and basic movement skills.
For ages 6–13, lessons progress through stages that build confidence, technique, and endurance. Kids learn everything from basic safety and floating to refined stroke mechanics and competitive readiness.
Focus on personal water safety, breath control, endurance, and stroke development for all experience levels. Advanced swimmers can join the Masters Swim Team to improve performance and participate in meets.
A variety of shallow and deep-water workouts (like Aqua Zumba, Ai-Chi, and Aqua HIIT) improve strength, flexibility, and balance while being gentle on joints — all included with membership.
Swimmers ready for advanced training can join the FCY Tidal Force Swim Team (ages 5–18), participating in local meets and team events.
The YMCA offers American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses, including CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications. These classes prepare participants ages 15+ to recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies, gain valuable job-ready skills, and join the Y’s mission of promoting water safety in the community.
