About Edward Coyle
With more than 30 years of teaching experience, 27 years in the Frederick area, and most notably 24 years as the Head Golf Professional at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Ed Coyle brings a proven golf instruction background to the Frederick YMCA. Through private lessons and clinic offerings, Ed has worked with hundreds of students from the true “I’ve never held a golf club” beginner to successful competitive players at the high school, college and club levels. Ed has played a highly developmental role in the mentoring and teaching of Division One college players, several Maryland State Golf Association champions, a pair of Players of the Year in Frederick County high school golf and a few club champions in Central Maryland. A club champion himself at Cazenovia Country Club in Upstate New York (where he later became Head Golf Professional) Ed Coyle’s teaching blueprint is simple: it starts with strong fundamentals in a player’s set-up and proceeds to more proven fundamentals in the body and club movement in the golf swing. Whether a person’s golf goals are competing at their highest achievable level or simply getting more enjoyment out of the recreational side of the sport, Ed will demonstrate a teaching/coaching/motivational effort to reach the desired result.
