“Curiosities” Art Exhibition: A Whimsical Journey Through the Peculiar
“Curiosities” the next art exhibition at Gallery 115 at The Y Arts Center in Downtown, Frederick will run Wednesday, December 1 through Wednesday, January 26, 2025, with an Opening Reception on Thursday, December 12, 7 pm to 9 pm.
Curiosities invites viewers to explore the beauty in the bizarre, evoking a sense of childlike whimsy. With sculptural and 2D works, discover how artists Juliana McNally and Emma Sandler embrace the peculiar to create a space of intrigue and playfulness.
Emma Sandler is an artist from Frederick, Maryland, primarily working in clay and illustration. Themes that inform their work include folklore, anatomy, and traditions. Sandler received their bachelor’s degree of art and archaeology from Hood College and currently works at the Frederick Arts Council.
Juliana McNally is a Frederick based multimedia artist whose creativity was sparked by her family’s artistic influence. Her work spans drawing, painting, jewelry making, and upcycled art. Juliana’s themes of interest revolve around human anxieties, transformation, and finding beauty in overlooked materials.
