YMCA of Frederick County Hosts Welcoming Week to Celebrate Diversity and Inclusion
The YMCA of Frederick County is excited to announce its participation in the annual Welcoming Week, set to take place from September 13-22, 2024. This year, Welcoming Week celebrates the growing movement of inclusive communities that fully embrace immigrants and their valuable contributions to our society.
Organized in collaboration with Welcoming America, this nationwide event aims to unite immigrants and U.S.-born residents through a series of community-based and virtual events. By promoting cross-cultural understanding and raising awareness of the benefits of inclusivity, Welcoming Week highlights the importance of ensuring everyone feels valued and connected.
In Frederick County, where 18.3% of residents are foreign-born and 17.7% identify as Hispanic, the YMCA is committed to fostering an environment of understanding and support. We recognize the diverse makeup of our community and aim to engage all individuals in meaningful ways.

With more than 44 million foreign-born individuals currently living in the United States, creating welcoming and inclusive communities is more crucial than ever.
