April 30 is Mahjong Day: Learn Mahjong at the YMCA of Frederick County

This traditional game, often likened to poker or gin rummy, is not only a source of entertainment but also an activity that can benefit seniors in numerous ways. At the YMCA of Frederick County, we’re proud to offer Mahjong classes and drop-in play sessions that provide seniors with the opportunity to learn, socialize, and engage in a stimulating activity that promotes mental, emotional, and social well-being.
Structured Learning and Affordable Price
Our Mahjong classes are structured over eight weeks, allowing participants ample time to grasp the rules and strategies of the game. Each session offers new opportunities for learning and improvement, fostering a sense of accomplishment and progress. At just $25 for eight weeks, our classes provide exceptional value, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to participation.
Convenient Schedule and Community Connection
Classes are held on Tuesdays, with drop-in play available at both locations (see below). This flexible schedule accommodates a variety of lifestyles, making it easy for seniors to attend. By joining our Mahjong classes, seniors can connect with others who share their interest in the game, fostering friendships and relationships within the community.
