Building Character Through Play
Y sports introduce kids to the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility on and off the field. How to Get Started
Getting your child into Y sports is simple. Follow these quick steps to choose the right program, complete registration and get ready for a season of fun, learning and active play.
Choose a Program
Explore available leagues, clinics and classes by age, location and season. Consider your child’s interests and experience level so you can select a sport that feels exciting and achievable.
Register and Prepare
Complete your online registration, review season details and mark practice and game days on your calendar. Make sure your child has appropriate shoes and clothing, plus any sport-specific equipment if needed.
Show Up and Have Fun
Arrive a few minutes early for the first session to meet coaches and teammates. Encourage your child to try their best, cheer for others and focus on effort and improvement throughout the season.
Volunteer Youth Sports Coaches Needed
Do you enjoy working with kids and making a difference in your community?
We’re looking for volunteer coaches for:
- Soccer
- Basketball
- Volleyball
Ages: 4–14 years old
Time Commitment: Just 2 days per week, approximately 2–3 hours total.
No coaching experience is required—just a positive attitude, patience, and a desire to help young athletes learn, grow, and have fun.
As a volunteer coach, you’ll:
- Make a lasting impact on a child’s life
- Build confidence and teamwork skills in young athletes
- Help create a positive and supportive environment
- Give back to your community

Youth Sports FAQs
Offerings vary by season and location, but may include popular team and individual sports for a range of ages. Please check the current program listings for up-to-date options and schedules.
Many youth sports programs are open to both members and non-members. Members typically receive a reduced program rate and additional benefits, such as facility access and Child Watch. Please review each program for specific details.
Programs are generally organized by age group so kids can learn and play with peers at a similar developmental level. Age ranges and divisions are listed with each sport in the program catalog.
Teams are led by caring, trained staff and volunteer coaches who are committed to teaching fundamentals, safety and sportsmanship. All coaches are expected to model the Y’s core values and create a positive environment for every child.
While kids learn the rules of the game and experience healthy competition, the focus is on skill development, teamwork and fun. Coaches strive to provide fair playing time and encourage every child to participate, learn and grow throughout the season.
