Safe, Fun Care When School Is Closed
When schools close for holidays, professional learning days, or seasonal breaks, the Y provides full-day care through our All Day Out programs. Children enjoy a mix of active play, enrichment projects, group games, and time with friends—all in a supervised, mission-driven environment that supports their social and emotional well-being.
Programs are designed for working families who need reliable childcare, offering flexible options at YMCA locations throughout Frederick County. With trained staff and age-appropriate activities, kids stay engaged, safe, and connected during their days off.

What to Expect
All Day Out programs provide structured, enriching care for school-age children ages 5–12. Daily schedules include indoor and outdoor activities, hands-on projects, and opportunities to build friendships. Licensed staff focus on creating welcoming spaces that support social-emotional growth and physical activity.
Daily Activities
Children participate in a wide range of experiences—including crafts, STEM projects, sports, group challenges, and themed activities. Weather permitting, outdoor play and movement are part of every day. Staff encourage creativity, teamwork, and confidence by offering choices and supporting children’s interests.
What to Bring
Participants should bring a packed lunch, refillable water bottle, and weather-appropriate clothing. For programs that include swimming or water play, families will receive advance instructions. Please label all belongings and avoid sending valuables.
Registration & Policies
All forms—including emergency contacts, health documentation, and waivers—must be completed prior to attendance, following MSDE licensing requirements. Registration closes once capacity is reached to ensure safe ratios. Families will receive site-specific details by email before the program begins.
