Gymnastics at the YMCA of Frederick County
Gymnastics programs at the YMCA are fun and dedicated to helping every child reach their fullest potential
The Y offers a fun gymnastics program dedicated to helping every child reach their fullest potential. We believe gymnastics training provides an excellent foundation in physical fitness, emphasizing the development of strength, flexibility and coordination.
Regardless of their physical abilities, all children benefit from gymnastics activities. Therefore, we strive to create a safe and fun environment that develops, in each student, self-discipline, self-confidence and enthusiasm as well as gymnastics skills.
Little Explorers
This class is for children ages 2 to 3 1/2. Children and their parents explore different activities using various pieces of gymnastic equipment. More emphasis is placed on learning tumbling skills such as forward rolls, balancing, strength coordination and movement exploration. Songs and parachute play are done with parent participation.
Tumble Kids

Emphasis on practicing tumbling skills is increased and movement to music is incorporated into class time.
