At the Y, we believe the ability to swim is a critical life skill for everyone. In swim lessons, we use a variety of fun methods to help kids overcome fears, build confidence in the water and develop skills that last a lifetime. Qualified instructors meet swimmers at their own level and celebrate all successes. By educating and partnering with swimmers, we’re determined to prevent drowning in our community.
Are you considering a water fitness program? More people than ever are exploring pool activity programs, and for good reason. Water fitness can improve strength, flexibility and cardiovascular health, decrease body fat, facilitate rehabilitation, improve functionality for daily living, and even enhance sports skills.
Ever wanted to learn the skills to save a life? With our YMCA and American Red Cross lifeguard certification courses you can do just that. Participants will learn lifeguarding skills, how to perform CPR on an adult, child and infant, how to use an AED, and necessary first-aid skills.
The Frederick County YMCA Tidal Force swim team participates in both a summer and a winter league. We compete as a team in scored, dual meets as well as optional invitational meets throughout both seasons. In between the seasons, the Team offers a competitive stroke clinic.
Pool parties at the Y are held either Saturdays from 3:00-5:00pm or on Sundays from 1:30-3:30pm. The first hour is always in the pool and followed by an hour in the Activity Room which is located off of the Youth Center. You may have up to 25 people in the pool at one time.
