Full Day Camps
With over 30 camps to choose from, we have something for every child’s interests. Our fun, full day camps are offered from the hours of 9 am – 4 pm daily. Before and after care also available.

Basketball Camp
The Y knows basketball…. We invented the sport. This camp is designed to specifically improve fundamental skills, personal development and encourages team participation. Campers will improve their shooting, dribbling and passing skills through a variety of fun drills, “lead-up” games and mini-tournaments.
Cheerleading
Want everyone to CHEER for your team? Campers will practice stunting, jumps, cheers, dance, and tumbling in this week long camp. Our YMCA cheer staff will aim to instill self-confidence, leadership, and teamwork in a fun environment. Swimming, crafts, and other activities may be included in this camp.
Chinese Language Camp
Chinese Language Camp will introduce kids to a completely different type of language camp with calligraphy and tonal sounds. Writing will be an important activity each day, and children who are fond of art will truly enjoy this because learning to draw Chinese characters with brush and ink is a beautiful art form unto itself.
Competitive Swimming Camp
This four-day camp is designed for competitive swimmers of all levels. Each camp will focus on all four strokes and will include classes on stroke technique, conditioning, racing strategies, nutrition for swimmers, cross training techniques, starts, turns and finishes.
Cooking
In this week long camp, students will learn about cooking and make and sample food. Cooking will be in the morning hours, and the afternoon will be filled with traditional fun camp activities including swimming and games.
Dance Camp
Learn about dance from the fun side. Daily movement and dance class to learn about ballet, jazz and modern. Children will also try out pantomime. Valuable lessons will be taught in dance history, vocabulary and music. Students will perform for parents on final day!
Fashion Camp
YMCA’s fashion camp is designed for girls ages 10-13 who would like to explore the world of fashion and learn about their own individual style! Campers will learn about fashion design and makeup. They will explore different styles of clothing and be able to create a unique outfit to wear in a fashion show at the end of the week. Each day is creative and lots of fun!
Flag Football Camp
Fast as fast can be. How quick are you? Flag football requires a lot of fitness and agility. This camp is set up to help with all facets of the game: running, catching, throwing, and agility. The children will be exposed to running plays and actual games.
Floor Hockey
How good are you with a stick? This camp will work on proper stick handling as well as overall fitness and agility. Children will be taken though a variety of skills and games where they will learn to work as a team while having fun with the game.
French in Motion
In this week-long session students will be exposed to French culture and language all while playing indoors and out. You’ll make crafts, learn traditional dances and games, learn 50 classroom instructions and phrases, discuss dates and times, use basic conversational phrases, prepare snacks, sing songs, and have fun while you learn.
Gladiator Camp
Train like The Gladiators to be ready for whatever they throw at you. This camp will play a variety of games including gauntlet, capture the flag, and dodge ball. A trip to Medieval Times to experience some historic action is included.
Gymnastics Camp
Want to be able to bounce and move in ways others only dream of? Gymnasts of all abilities will enjoy this YMCA camp. Learn and improve your gymnastics skills on the vault, bars, beam, and vault. Swimming, crafts, and games may also be included in this physically challenging camp!
Horsemanship
Youth will learn basic horsemanship and safety plus have a daily riding lesson in preparation for a skills demonstration for family and friends at the end of the week. Students will be taught by experienced, knowledgeable staff and ARICP certified instructors, in the basic arts of English riding. Lessons are given on well schooled, well-trained school horses and ponies.
Karate Camp
This camp will help develop character and self-confidence in kids. It will also teach discipline, stretching and fitness, balance and coordination, and the foundation needed for proper self-defense training. All students learn simultaneously the modern sport of Karate, as well as a unique,effective and authentic old-style karate known as Koryu Uchinadi.
Market Street
This full day camp is for children ages 5 – 12 and is conveniently located a block down the street from the YMCA at the Staley Building. Children will utilize the picnic pavilion and surrounding field areas in the park. Campers will also get to use the swimming pool and Youth Center at the YMCA. A large portion of this program consists of sports, games and arts and crafts.
Musical Theater
Are you ready for the big time? This camp is for serious singers and dancers. Campers must attend daily and be ready to do independent homework after camp is over. Performance on final day for family and friends.
Outdoorsman
Enjoy being in the great wilderness? Want to get away from civilization and enjoy some good outdoor fun? Then this camp is for you, as you will go fishing, swimming, rock climbing, hiking and canoeing during your time in this camp. Campers will meet at Ausherman Field every morning to be transported to outdoor locations for the camp day.
Sampler Language
The “Sampler” is a camp that gives kids the opportunity to be introduced to five different languages in one week. Each day will focus on one particular language and provide the theme for songs, crafts and games. Languages will include Spanish, French, American Sign Language (ASL), Chinese and Braille.
Science Olympiad
Up for a challenge this summer? Good! We dare you to launch an egg into space and return it safely to earth without letting it have a “great fall”. We dare you to show us that catapults are not just for the “birds” (no matter how angry they are!). Maryland Science Olympiad specializes in making science fun!
Secret Agent
Want to sneak, snoop and save the day! Do you cut the red or blue wire? Can you save the world? The campers will go through many agent trainings to see if they have what it takes to be secret agent. This camp includes a trip to the Spy Museum.
Sign Language
In this week-long session students will learn the basics of American Sign Language, including simple conversation skills, classroom vocabulary, colors, and numbers in a fun and active environment. You’ll make crafts, explore simple science, prepare snacks, sing songs, and have fun while you learn.
Soccer
This camp is great for the soccer enthusiast looking to improve their game. Foot skills, agility, and positioning will be emphasized. This camp will offer individualized player development within a team setting.
Some Assembly Required
This camp provides participants with opportunity to glue, paste, paint, bead and mold. During the week the campers will make several projects to take home. The campers will also enjoy recreational activities each day such as going to Staley Park, Youth Center and swimming.
Sports Unlimited
So many sports — so little time. For the kids that just want to play. A wide variety of sports and activities will be played from flag football to wallyball. Each day a different sports experience. Fitness, teamwork and fun will be emphasized.
Story Dance
Learn about dance from the fun side. Daily movement and dance class to learn about ballet, jazz and modern. Children will try out pantomime. Valuable lessons will be taught in dance history, vocabulary and music. Recreational swim may be included in activities. Children will attend Market Street in the morning and Story Dance in the afternoon.
Teen Trek
This is the perfect camp for kids who think they don’t need to be in camp. Each day campers will have the opportunity to travel to destinations that will be sure to hold the interest of even the most skeptical teen. Camp adventures include but are not limited to theme parks, sporting events, water parks outdoor adventures and so much more. A great opportunity to meet new people and experience exciting adventures.
Tennis
Looking to improve that court awareness, make new friends and have fun? This camp will help improve footwork, tennis strokes and agility. Participants will also learn to keep score during matches.
West Mar Nature Camp
A wonderful opportunity for kids to enjoy nature and just be allowed to be a kid! Located in Thurmont at the foot of the Catoctin Mountains, Camp West Mar has all the best of the great outdoors including nature hikes, fishing, swimming, canoeing and so much more.
Young Rembrandts
Pow! Bang! Wow! Along with some basic, fun cartooning you will learn to draw your own comic book superhero as well as Anime style heroes. You will learn to draw action and movement while you complete the scenes around your characters, using pencils, markers and Sharpies™. Your collection of drawings will be impressive!
