High School Swim Season is Beginning Soon

High School Swim Team PracticeWe are excited to share that high school swim season is upon us! Beginning November 15, the Natelli Family YMCA will be welcoming Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) swim teams to practice in our competition pool. During this season, practices will take place on weekdays from 5:00–7:00 AM and 3:00–5:30 PM, and the swim season will run from November 15 through February 28.

We know that this will create some temporary adjustments for our lap swimmers, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we support our local teens. We will make every effort to re-open lanes for member use whenever possible, particularly on days when swim teams are not on-site.

Why This Matters for Our Community

Hosting the FCPS swim teams is more than just providing a practice space—it’s part of our mission to strengthen our community. Supporting local youth athletes in this way contributes to their personal growth and instills qualities like drive, discipline, and sportsmanship, values that will serve them throughout life. At the Y, we believe swimming is an essential skill that not only promotes physical health but is also life-saving. The dedication and resilience these young athletes build here in the pool have a lasting impact on their well-being and development.

How Your YMCA is Helping Build Future Leaders

Beyond their time as student-athletes, many of these swimmers go on to become part of our YMCA family, often joining us as lifeguards, swim instructors, and staff. By practicing here, they see firsthand the welcoming and supportive environment we strive to create for all. These young people become ambassadors for the YMCA, sharing their positive experiences and values within their families and friend groups, further strengthening our reach and impact across the community.

A Partnership Rooted in Community Support

The partnership between the Y and FCPS runs deep. The support FCPS provided for the construction of the Natelli Family YMCA helped us build a state-of-the-art aquatics facility that benefits not only our members but also the larger Frederick community. In return, we’re proud to be able to support FCPS athletics by offering our pool to three high school teams during swim season. Together, we’re making a lasting investment in the health, safety, and success of our youth and our shared community.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this season. Your flexibility allows us to continue to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our local teens. With your support, we’re not only helping them develop as athletes but also as confident, capable individuals ready to take on life’s challenges.

We’re grateful to each of you for being part of this Y community and for embracing this unique opportunity to support our youth.
