On October 5th, United Way of Frederick held their Day of Action that provides an opportunity for volunteers, donors, and advocates who seek to change lives and communities to be part of the solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives. YMCA Camp West Mar was fortunate enough to have a group of ten volunteers at camp between 10:00am and 3:00pm. The group included staff from two local organizations: DALY Computers, INC and Wells Fargo. The volunteers successfully completed two projects that will increase camp accessibility and improve the outdoor learning experience at camp. A walkway was created through an area between cabins that becomes saturated and muddy during heavy rain. They also built and installed four 3’x8′ raised garden beds that will allow attendees at camp to learn about gardening and eat the fruits of their labor.
We want to give a great big THANK YOU to all of the United Way volunteers (and Y staff that were able to lend a hand). Camp West Mar is better because of you!
