Because of people like you, we are able to provide opportunities that improve our community’s health and well-being

Why donate to the YMCA of Frederick County? Because when you donate to the Y, you will help Frederick advance programming and services that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Each year, the YMCA provides financial assistance that makes a direct impact on residents right here in our own community. To do this, we depend on charitable donations. Below you can see all of the different ways you can help the YMCA of Frederick County support the community.

Because of people like you, we are able to provide opportunities that improve our community’s health and well-being. The YMCA is particularly proud of the fact that we accept individuals and families that can’t afford memberships, so everyone has the same opportunity to learn, play and grow. Last year, financial support made 640 scholarships possible for community members to participate in all the Y has to offer. Your generous support keeps the Y available for those who need us most.

Annual Campaign

Every day, the YMCA of Frederick County serves as a gathering place for the community. Kids pour in after school to play and do homework. Seniors meet for swimming, group activities and to connect with one another. To ensure that the Y can continue to provide Frederick residents with life enhancing services, the YMCA of Frederick County asks the community for support in our Annual Campaign. Funds raised for Annual Campaign will support camps, membership, childcare, and many other programs.

Support to the Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame

The Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame is being re-developed at the Downtown Y campus of the YMCA of Frederick County, 1000 N. Market Street, Frederick. In its new location, it will be an accessible and comfortable room close to the Y’s main entrance. Permanent and rotating displays of photographs, tributes, and memorabilia will honor Frederick County’s finest athletes, coaches and athletic boosters. When it is completed in late 2015, members of the Hall of Fame and their families and friends will be able to easily visit the room. It will also be open to the public.

Financial gifts to assist with creating the new Quinn Hall of Fame are welcome and encouraged. All gifts are tax-deductible.

Checks can be made payable to YMCA of Frederick County and mailed to: Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame, Frederick County YMCA, 1000 N. Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Please mark your checks “Hall of Fame.”

The Y also welcomes other forms of giving that enable you to both assist with this project and benefit from it. Contact Kim Selby at 301-663-5131, extension 1222 or kselby@frederickymca.org for assistance.

The YMCA Foundation

The YMCA Foundation was established in 2009 to support the endowment fund of the YMCA of Frederick County. Donations to the YMCA endowment fund are not intended for current spending; rather they are invested and the YMCA will benefit from future earnings from those investments. Investment income that is not used is reinvested back into the fund. Corpus funds would only be used in cases of extreme circumstances through action of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Frederick County.

Making a gift to the endowment fund is one of the most significant gestures of support for our mission that an individual or family can make to the YMCA of Frederick County.

Your gift to the endowment fund helps make our community a safe and healthy place for children and families for generations.

The YMCA Foundation has two giving clubs – the Heritage Club for donors who have pledged at least $1,000 per year for ten years and the Legacy Society for those who have made a planned gift to the YMCA.

Giving Through the United Way

The YMCA of Frederick County is a proud member of the United Way of Frederick County. When you give to the United Way – be sure to designate your donation to the YMCA (Agency #25)
