Parent/Child Swim Lessons

The Y offers both parent/child swim lessons for children ages 6-36 months and preschool lessons for children ages 3-6. The parent/child classes will orient the infant and parent to the aquatic environment, while helping them develop awareness of their own bodies, acquire a feeling of independence, gain a sense of success and increase self-esteem while enjoying the pool.

Water Discovery

Ages 6-17 months, parent participation required, no evaluation required. Introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment. Basic movements, blowing bubbles, and floating will be introduced through creative and fun activities.

Water Exploration

Ages 18-36 months, parent participation required, no evaluation required. Focuses on exploring body positions, blowing bubbles, and fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Independent exploration of the water, basic movements, blowing bubbles, and floating will be introduced through creative and fun activities.

Acclimate With Me

Ages 2-6 years, parent participation required, no evaluation required. Designed for children who are physically ready for the Water Acclimation stage, but are too young to register, or who need parental reinforcement and encouragement to feel comfortable. Increases comfort with underwater exploration and introduces basic self-rescue skills performed with parent assistance. Skills introduced will be equivalent to the Water Acclimation stage.
