PICKLEBALL FAQ’S

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States. It combines elements of badminton, tennis and ping pong and is played with solid paddles and a perforated ball similar to a whiffle ball on a short solid court with a low net.

With a shorter court and lightweight paddles, pickleball is a game that can be enjoyed by all ages and can be played as singles or doubles. Doubles is the more common form of play.

If you do not own your own pickleball equipment, we have plenty of paddles you can borrow! If you plan on playing regularly, we recommend purchasing your own equipment so new players are able to use the YMCA’s.

Open pickleball play is available at the Natelli Family Y or the Y Sports Warehouse, check the schedules for more information.

In-person practice is what’s going to help you learn to play the quickest. We also offer Pickleball Lessons throughout the year. You can also check out this link for some instructional videos from USA Pickleball!

Drop-in pickleball play is included with your membership! Nonmembers need to purchase a punchcard for their location of choice.
