Personal Training

The Y offers personal training for individuals ages 11 and over. Regardless of your fitness background or goals, we have a trainer for you here at the Y. Our trainers’ expert advice and personalized attention can provide you with the edge to keep you motivated and overcome fitness plateaus. All of our trainers are certified through nationally accredited fitness organizations and are required to complete continuing education courses to keep them on top of the newest information in exercise science.

On a daily basis our trainers help clients who need assistance reaching their goals of weight loss, strength building, cardiorespiratory endurance, continuing exercise post-rehab, sports conditioning, learning new exercises, efficient movement and mobility, stress management, and confidence boosting. With over a dozen trainers with various certifications, specialties, and educational backgrounds, we’re sure to find someone that you’ll connect and work well with.

In a given session with a trainer at the Y you’ll warm up properly, learn and work to perfect your form in a safe manner on the exercises in your program, go through your personalized, goal-oriented workout with the guidance and encouragement from your trainer, and discuss nutrition and recovery tips to help you make the most of your training with us.

If you’d prefer to train alongside someone, we also offer group personal training to both members and non-members. Groups of two with similar fitness goals will meet with their trainer to perform workouts together.

Wellness Coaching

Individual or small group support to optimize your health and well being

Health and Wellness Coaching is an excellent tool to assist you in progressing down the path of behavior change in order to reach your optimal health. During these coaching sessions, the coach will walk you through the process of developing and implementing your own personal wellness plan.

These plans can address any number of variables related to your personal health and wellness including, but not limited to, weight loss, nutrition, physical activity, smoking cessation, and stress management. Rebecca Reifsnider is a Certified Health and Wellness Coach who holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science and Nutrition and an ACSM Personal Trainer. She also teaches Ultimate Conditioning classes.

Ultimate Conditioning

This is the ultimate workout for anyone who wants to challenge themselves to new fitness heights. This strength and conditioning class is taught by one of our personal trainers and includes barbells, kettlebells, ropes, medicine balls, sleds, and gymnastics equipment. Using progressive barbell strength work and high intensity circuit training mixed with sports-style speed and agility work, this class is a challenge regardless of where you’re at physically. Class runs on the 7 week session, see program book for dates.

*You must take 7 weeks of Kettlebell classes and/or pass a skills evaluation with Assistant Director and Coach Jonny Slick before joining Ultimate Conditioning.

When a Personal Training Request Form is submitted, the Assistant Director will take the time to review the request in order to assign the best possible Trainer for the clients’ needs. This process could take up to three days before the trainer will contact the client. Personal Trainers are employees of the YMCA but do not have pre-scheduled hours. Trainers are on site when an appointment is made. Appointments are critical for client and trainer to ensure the best possible day/time to meet. Walk in requests for same day appointments are not allowed.
