SUMMARY:Open Mic Night at the Y Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:Open Mic Night (Vocal/Instrumental)\n7-9 PM | Sign-ups begin at 6:30pm\nY Arts Center\, 115 E. Church St.\, Frederick \nRick Hill\, folk musician and songwriter\, will host a new Open Mic at the Y Arts Center\, 115 E. Church St. Frederick\, MD  from 7-9 PM. \nA $5 donation is requested.  This will be all acoustic\, no sound system will be used. \nThere will be 12 slots available.  Sign-ups begin at 6:30 on Friday.  Each act will get two songs or 10 minutes. \nF.A.M.E. ran the Open Mic at Sky Stage\, but with winter pressing in\, they wanted a place that was heated and covered. Frederick Acoustic Music Enterprise (F.A.M.E.) and the YMCA of Frederick County are collaborating to offer local musicians an opportunity to get in front of a crowd and perform.  The Y Arts Center has a fantastic room with great acoustics\, so no sound system is needed.

DESCRIPTION:The 47th annual YMCA of Frederick County Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Saturday\, January 28\, at 6 pm at the New Spire Arts. \nEach year the YMCA recognizes individuals who\, through their accomplishments and contributions in the field of athletics\, have brought honor to themselves and to Frederick County.  Alvin G. Quinn was the Executive Director of the YMCA of Frederick County from 1919 to 1960. No individual has ever had such an impact on so many of the area’s young people during his 40-year career as did Mr. Quinn. \nSix new inductees will be recognized: \n\nDell Ahalt\nBrittain Altomare Hurley\nErnie Bowens\nMichael Rice\nFrederick Schumacher\nKathleen Sixx\n\nThe ceremony will be held Saturday\, January 28\, 2023\, at the New Spires Arts in downtown Frederick (15 W Patrick Street). Doors open to ticket holders at 6 pm with a reception from 6-7 pm with the induction ceremony beginning at 7 pm. Tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis\, available in-person at either YMCA branch\, or for purchase online. (Tickets purchased online will be available at New Spire Arts will-call window the night of.) \nThe Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame collection is located at the Downtown campus of the YMCA of Frederick County\, 1000 N. Market Street\, Frederick. It is accessible to the public. Permanent and rotating displays of photographs and memorabilia honor Frederick County’s finest athletes\, coaches\, and athletic and community supporters.
