Good afternoon YMCA members and program participants. As many of you are aware…the YMCA has faced and survived two terrible storms in less than 2 ½ years. Here we go again!
Over the past several years we have made some improvements to our facilities and restructured several key operating components. Work continues today.
We are monitoring the hurricane Florence storm closely and are prepared to implement and put into place the flood mitigation tools and materials we have on hand to protect our property.
Our number one priority is to provide a safe environment for our children, members, staff and volunteers. So… I suggest as the storm progresses this week that you continue to monitor our website, Facebook page, messages on our phone system and look at any email messages we send out for updates regarding program schedules and access to the facility.
In advance and prior to any water intrusion into the facility, we might choose to close several program features. The racquetball courts and pool area may be effected. While I understand it might be inconvenient to lose access for a day or two, securing those areas sooner than later can save us potentially time and money. If we choose to close the pool it would be for the purpose of capturing any water that might access our facility with the intent on maintaining it in the existing designated wet areas of the building.
On behalf of the YMCA staff and Board Members I would like to thank you for your support, patience and assistance during the next several days.
We appreciate the Frederick Community.
