Kids Unlimited

The Kids Unlimited program provides summer camps for children with autism and other special needs. Participants will be included in general camp programs and activities and will be supervised by YMCA staff trained to work with children ages 5-20 with special needs. Additional staff support will be provided by request for an additional fee. Staff are qualified by MSDE’s Office of Child Care and are trained in CPR, first aid and other appropriate trainings.

Children will enjoy arts and crafts, sensory activities, cooking, sports and group games all centered around a unique theme of the week. In addition, there will be integration with other general camp programs at the main facility to incorporate inclusion opportunities. During specific weeks, field trips to local recreation facilities will be planned. In addition, presentations will be scheduled for education purposes relative to the themes for the summer. Children will swim at the main Y facility twice per week. Each child’s needs will be assessed by the director and staff to adequately provide opportunities for success within the program.

In addition to camps, there are programs offered in the area of sports and other enrichment programs for children. Special accommodations will be made if available on a case by case basis to assist participants in programs such as sports, swimming and dance programs.

Please note that registration for this camp is not available online or at the front desk. You must register by calling camp director, Kelly Presnell, at 301-663-5131, ext. 1248. You can also email kpresnell@frederickymca.org for more information.
